Summary

The Green Party will be offering free services at the Pride festival in Preston Park on Saturday.

Main Body

Professional therapists Elaine Colomberg, Dena Patel and Mala Nathan will be offering free shoulder massage sessions to festival goers, and the stall will have solar and pedal powered mobile phone chargers.

Nigel Tart, the Green Party's national spokesperson on LGBT issues, explained:

'We've got a separate information stall, where people can chat to us and sign our petition against the government's appalling treatment of LGBT asylum seekers. But we recognise that Pride is essentially a celebration, so we want to give something back to the community.

'The phone charging will help people keep in touch with friends, after burning off a few calories, and it's a perfect example of Green technology in action.

'People can take 15 minutes out from the madding crowds for a stressbusting massage. We're very grateful to the therapists, who have all donated their time in order to make the best pride in the country even better.'

Mala commented:

'I'm proud to be able to help the Greens. This small example shows how the Greens care about our health and wellbeing.'

Elaine was excited about the project:

'Dena and I are delighted to support such a lovely idea. Pride can be a stressful, hectic day and we look forward to taking some of the tension away and helping the afternoon go more smoothly.'
