Joseph Healy, International Officer for LGBTGreens and Parliamentary Candidate for Vauxhall said:

"I welcome the news that President Obama has finally done away with one of the most ridiculous and oppressive pieces of legislation on the US statute book."

"This law which discriminated against those living with HIV and effectively blocked many LGBT people living with HIV from entering the US or made them criminals if they tried to circumvent it, belonged to the dark ages of President Reagan and AIDS panic, when it was first drafted."

"I regard this as an important step in the improvement of life for LGBTIQ people living in the US and worldwide and for those living with HIV/AIDS."
