Following the announcement in September that Pride in Brighton & Hove was looking to move away from the traditional first weekend in August next year to avoid a clash with the opening of the brand new Brighton & Hove Albion American Express Community Stadium' Pride in Brighton & Hove can now announce the most anticipated date in its history...
Over the past two months Pride has been gathering feedback and working closely with all our partners to secure a date for the 2011 event and we are pleased to reveal that the Pride Parade and main event at Preston Park will be on Saturday 13th August 2011.
Judith Manson' Pride Manger said 'Unbeknown to Pride' Brighton & Hove Albion have previously requested an away match on the first weekend in August so they would not clash with the Pride celebrations' it is now our turn to return the favour. We look forward to celebrating the opening of the Amex stadium with them and thank the management team at the Albion for their support.'
Martin Perry' CEO and Stadium Project Manager said 'The club has asked the Football League for an opening home fixture to kick off the first season at the Amex. We hope they will look favourablyon our request - and it is a great gesture that Pride has kindly offered to move from their traditional first Saturday in August in order for us' with the League's blessing' to kick off a new era for the Albion in style at our new home.'
Over the years Pride has become one of the city's largest and most popular events. Now with the full support of the Council and other statutory partners the Board of Trustees is preparing the strategy for 2011 to ensure a safe and enjoyable event' which is affordable for the charity. This will be made public in the coming weeks.
